We have some enormously exciting news to announce from the Sheffield Young Artists Competition which you will remember we entered as a school back in February.
Henry in Prep 2 has been announced among the citywide winners, for his painting ‘A Bee’s Eye View’!
Key Stage 1 winner Henry was invited to the Lord Mayor’s Parlour in Sheffield Town Hall to meet Coun Safiya Saeed, the 128th Lord Mayor of Sheffield, who told him 1,200 young artists had entered their work – and he was among just 12 children invited along as either winners or runners-up.
Henry then returned to the city centre for a prize presentation and to see his work displayed at the Central United Reformed Church on Norfolk Street.
The exhibition included incredibly accomplished artworks from schoolchildren across Sheffield – and, in addition to Henry’s, four other Mylnhurst pieces from the competition have been selected for display at Art in the Gardens in the Botanical Gardens in September.
Henry’s mum Francesca said: “Meeting the Master Cutler was such a nice moment for Henry – his great-grandfather was a Master Cutler in 1981.” Well done, Henry!
