My name is Catherine Thompson and I chair the Board of Directors at Mylnhurst. Originating in Lancashire I came to Sheffield University to study law and became one of the many graduates who choose to remain in this green city. I practised as a commercial litigation solicitor in Sheffield for a decade before having children.
When our elder son reached about three, my late husband and I debated which school he should attend. It was the cause of much contention and had been for some months when our next door neighbour suggested taking a look at Mylnhurst. We walked up the drive, met with Mr Emmott, and knew within ten minutes that we had found a very special place which proved to be the case. Both sons came here and have left with so much more than a good education and happy memories.
I too became involved in the life of the school and worked in the Early Years alongside my role as Legal Director for a number of years. I am joined on the Board with Martina Bradshaw our Finance Director, Anne Raftery our Company Secretary and Jonathan Saunders our Buildings Director. Our respective children have all attended Mylnhurst. Indeed several of them appear every year to help at school events such as the summer ball, camps, and in the swimming pool since Mylnhurst is very much a family in which you all feel you belong.
It is an honour and a privilege to serve on the Board with my fellow directors to seek to ensure that Mylnhurst continues to flourish, and provides the best possible start in life for all our children.
