Snakes alive! Our series of celebrations to mark National Science Week this week got off to a ssseriously ssslithery ssstart with a live animal handling workshop that was off the ssscale!
The children – very bravely! – got up close and personal with a python called Sox, a spiky bearded dragon, a tortoise, a tank full of creepy-crawlies – and a fluffy bunny rabbit, among other animals.
The workshop, hosted by ranger Laura from Animal Club, was all part of our Science Week theme of ‘change and adapt’ – a brilliantly fun as well as educational hands-on visit.
Elsewhere our Prep 3 children spent a lesson drawing and cutting out paper chameleons – and then secreting them in and around our school chapel to illustrate the effectiveness of camouflage!
And we can’t wait for Science Hat Day tomorrow, when our week of fun will culminate in a day of homemade hats decorated by the children on the theme of science. Hats off to them!
