Thank you so much to everyone who attended our All Generations Charity Afternoon Tea in the final term of last year.
The children loved sharing stories with their relatives outside in the sunshine before heading inside to the cool of our school Chapel for sandwiches, pastries, cakes and cups of tea – all ably served by our former Prep 6 class as waiters and waitresses!
We are delighted to be able to reveal that the event, at the start of July, raised a magnificent £430 for St Luke’s Hospice, to support its invaluable work.
Following the success of the afternoon tea, we are delighted to announce the creation of a brand new Mylnhurst initiative – our volunteer Reading Army!
One of the loveliest aspects of the afternoon tea was the joy of the children in sharing books with their grandparents and extended family outside in the sunshine.
Reading is very special to us at Mylnhurst, but sharing a book with someone else is extra special; having time to talk about the story, laughing together, having meanings explained or simply spending time together is something we want to encourage… and this is why we need YOU!
We would like to invite relatives and Mylnhurst family friends to sign up to the ‘Reading Army’ and come into school to share books with our children. If you are interested, and free to give us an hour of your time on a regular basis, please let us know.
