Going bananas for South America day

Going bananas for South America day

They’re going bananas in Prep 3 – where Miss Coppard spent all day dressed up as a banana to celebrate the class’s South America Day!

The children had a fantastic cross-curricular day, mixing history, geography, science, art, music and food tech into one truly memorable experience, learning all about the countries and cultures of South America.

In the morning the children made and fried arepas con queso – cheese-stuffed corn cakes – and recreated pan pipe music using water in bottles and different lengths of tube.

At dinner time they tucked into a special lunch, fiesta-style, in the training suite.

And in the afternoon they learned about llamas and drew their own using old Peruvian patterns and wax crayons.

They rounded off their day with a quickfire quiz while watching the Colombia-set film Encanto and tucking into popcorn.

Thank you to all our children for such beautiful, colourful costumes.
